4 Ways Luna Gives Physical Therapists the Gift of Time

MetLife’s 17th Annual U.S. Employee Benefit Trends Study recently found that the “implicit flexibility for taking time off” is more appealing to people than any other work perk or benefit. After speaking with hundreds of physical therapists about their hopes, dreams, and frustrations in their work environments, we believe this concept applies to PTs as well. If there’s one thing that comes up again and again in those conversations—it’s time.

Whether it’s a lack of time away from the clinic, not enough quality time with patients, too little time between patients, a general lack of control over their own time, or the grueling amount of time spent on administrative tasks and documentation, today’s physical therapists are short on time, and it’s wreaking havoc on their quality of life.

Luna’s Mika Toribara, DPT, explains it well, “Before Luna, I had been working a full-time clinical PT job. To be honest, I was really struggling. I was seeing too many patients per day, the pace was too quick, and I wasn’t getting the quality time with each patient that I’d hoped for. Dealing with health insurance wasn’t so great either. I would say I was burnt out, discouraged, and exhausted.”

Today’s physical therapists need more time—time with their patients, time away from work, time for themselves and their families. Here are just a few ways Luna is giving physical therapists the much-deserved gift of time.

1. Complete Control Over Their Own Schedule

We recognize our PTs as humans first and physical therapists second. We respect the fact that they have lives outside of work and do everything in our power to make work fit into their lives, not the other way around. That’s why our therapists enjoy complete autonomy and control over their own work schedules. With Luna, therapists are in the driver’s seat and dictate their own destiny.

2. Eliminating the Time Spent on Documentation

Physical therapists don’t go into the profession to mull over paperwork. To give even more time back to our PTs, we recently released Luna Auto-Charting, an industry first that eliminates the need for paperwork entirely. It allows therapists to create precise and accurate charts via a simple phone-based interview. The technology saves our therapists 15-20 minutes of documentation per patient visit!

3. More Quality Time With Patients

Through thoughtful use of technology, Luna enables physical therapists to spend 45 minutes with every single patient and see them through their entire course of care. Not only does this increase the quality of care the patient receives, but it also allows our therapists to see their true clinical impact and increases their job satisfaction

4. Zero Time Spent on Back Office Tasks

If a therapist were to go out on their own and start a private PT practice, there are countless administrative tasks that would come along with it. From patient marketing to insurance, billing to booking and beyond, Luna manages all of the back office tasks associated with running a physical therapy business. This allows our therapists to stay focused on what they love most—delivering quality care and making a difference in the lives of their patients.

When we first started Luna, we asked ourselves, “Can we give therapists a better experience? Can we make things better for PTS—not just at work, but also outside of it?” By consistently coming back to these questions, the Luna team is redefining what it means to live and work as a physical therapist.
