Los Angeles is the place to be for outdoor enthusiasts. There are trails to run, waves to ride, and sun to soak up. The City of Angels also offers outstanding healthcare services, including on-demand physical therapy. Luna is proud to work with the best physical therapists in LA. Meet just five:
Joshua graduated from Western University of Health Science in Pomona, Calif., with his DPT degree in 2008. As a physical therapist, he says he doesn’t believe in “fixing” his patients. “It’s more about getting them on the right path to wellness,” he says. “I provide them with the proper direction, tips, and tools to get them back to good health but with the understanding that it's not just me. They have to make rehab a priority in their lives. When they do, it’s very rewarding to see the results of our combined efforts.“
When he’s not working, Joshua loves spending time with his family, including his two daughters and a dog. He’s also a competitive martial artist with a black belt in judo and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Joshua has a popular Instagram account, judiophsyio, where he enjoys chatting with others who have an interest in physical therapy and how it relates to sports.
Amanda is a born juggler. With three businesses and a daughter, she works hard to keep her life in balance. “I feel fortunate to have the time and ability to handle all of them well,” she says. “But without Luna, it would be a lot harder. My work setup is undoubtedly non-traditional, but all three jobs provide me with flexible schedules and profitable streams of income. I love what I’ve built for myself and wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Her favorite achievement as a PT? Helping a new grandmother recover from back surgery. “She was quite distraught over not being able to hold her brand new grandbaby,” Amanda says. “It was her goal to do so—sooner rather than later. So, together, we worked hard, and she rapidly regained the strength and stability needed to hold and care for her precious grandchild safely.”
If you want to know the best place to grab a coffee or some Italian food in West Hollywood, just ask Bijal. This dedicated foodie also loves to be fit. “Movement has always been, and continues to be, a priority for me,” she says. “I discovered that physical therapy aligned perfectly with that mindset, so I made it my career aspiration during my junior year of college.”
Bijal acknowledges the reality of PT burnout and says that her early-morning workouts and disconnecting completely from work at the end of the day have helped her keep upbeat. Luna helps her with work/life balance while boosting her career. “I get to set my own hours and have control over when I want to take time off,” she says Those two things help me live life on my terms, which I value tremendously. The compensation is quite good. I find that I’m working smarter, not harder.”
Suren’s life reads like a motivational self-help book. He’s a double-board certified PT headed to the 2020 Olympics to provide sports medicine coverage for the Armenian National Team. He found physical therapy “compelling” because “it went beyond simply prescribing a ‘pill for the ill,’” he says. “It was much more of a hands-on remedy, both physically and psychologically. I felt I could have a more effective, positive impact helping people get well in that line of work.”
Suren loves life as a Luna PT. “My clinical outcomes, as a result, have been excellent with every single patient I have seen or am seeing with Luna, which is something I cannot confidently say about other places or settings I have worked in,” he says.
Aaron originally wanted to be a history teacher, but a class called “The Science of Human Performance” eventually helped shift his career trajectory toward physical therapy. “It was perfect because it combined my interests in physiology, teaching, and helping people get well,” he says.
When it comes to helping patients heal, Aaron takes a detective-style approach. “I enjoy uncovering the barriers that prevent patients from making progress and then coming up with creative ways to overcome those obstacles,” he says. “Being a physical therapist puts me in a position to help bring meaning back into my patient's lives, and seeing positive results from our combined efforts brings me a lot of joy.”
These are only five in our 100+ Luna community of exceptional physical therapists serving the Los Angeles area, which includes Alhambra, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Glendale, Hollywood, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach, Northridge, Pasadena, Pomona, Redondo Beach, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks, Torrance, West Hollywood, Westlake, Westwood, and Woodland Hills.
